| CM4A12 Intelligent Battery Charger 12V 4Amp |
Technical Specification
12V, 4A
Mains input - 230Vac 50Hz
Description
An intelligent battery charger designed to deliver the exact amount of charge automatically every time. The unit is micro-processor controlled making it suitable for charging drycell and gel batteries. The charging regime is designed to give maximum life expectancy for the batteries. A sophisticated software program continuously monitors the battery to maintain it in peak condition and to make sure the battery is 100% charged when ready for use. Supplied with crocodile clips for direct connection to the battery. The unit is packaged in an oyster white cardboard box.
Key Features
1. Proportional charging
2. Short circuit protection
3. Reverse Polarity protection
4. High temperature protection
5. 100% fully automatic charging
6. Constant voltage float/standby
7. fast constant current bulk charge
8. Intelligent computer control circuitry
9. Recovery of a battery from as low as 1V
10. LED indication of the float charge, bulk charge , short circuit, reverse polarity, open circuit & thermal shutdown
11. Supplied with crocodile clips.
Charging Regime
Stage 1. (Bulk Charge) A soft start delay is activated on connection to the battery tp prevent sparking, after which a controlled constant current of 0.6 Amps id fed into the battery to rapidly raise the terminal voltage to 2.41 volts per cell. The length of time taken to complete stage 1 will depend on capacity of the battery and depth of the discharge.
Stage 2. (Controlled Over-voltage Equalising) The terminal voltage is maintained at a constant potential of 2.41 volts per cell during which time the charge current will start to decay exponetially until it reaches the preset level of approximately 10% of the chargers maximum current rating. The length of time from start of bulk charge stage 1 to this point is monitored (T1). The terminal voltage is then maintained at 2.41 volts per cell for a further time period of T1/2
Stage 3. (Standby Mode)
At the end of the timed period the terminal voltage is reduced to 2,28 volts per cell, which is maintained until either the battery is disconnected or discharged sufficiently to switch back to stage1. State of charge is indicated by static red LED during stage 1 and stage 2, and by static green LED for stage 3 (Charge Complete)
Protection
1. The charger is protected against short circuiting of output leads
2. Protected against connecting the battery connections the wrong way round
3. Protected against excessive internal temperature of the charger during which time the charger output will be disabled until the temperature has fallen to a safe level
